About The Way of Ramen

The Way of Ramen represents the journey of mastering the art of making ramen. My story begins by chance, eating at a new local ramen place. I was so disappointed by what was served to me I went home determined to make something better. How hard could it be? Those people just didn’t know what they were doing.

I spent a day reducing a Tonkotsu pork bone broth and proudly served it to my family, and it was horrible. Noodles were store bought and overcooked, the broth was way too under salted. I could not even finish it. It was worse than the bowl I had in the restaurant.

it was that experience of failing so bad at that first bowl that inspired my journey to learn the art of ramen making. Luckily at that point, I had been studying Japanese on my own for 4 years. I was able to watch and read authentic Japanese recipes and started trying them at home.

I actually never bothered watching or reading ramen recipes in English until much later when I realized that most of the easily found recipes were completely wrong when compared to the recipes I was reading in Japanese. That inspired me to start recording myself attempting Japanese recipes and posting them to YouTube.

I’m still learning and I’m not an expert, but I love making ramen and I’d love for you to join me as I learn.

My dream would be for this website to become a community hub for ramen nerds around the world who are sharing their recipes and techniques in an effort to really spread quality ramen around the world.

If you’re someone who’s as into making ramen as I am, I’d love for you to join the way of ramen movement.
